The Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA) is a research institute of the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics, and aims to improve the understanding of the relationship between education and the labour market.
ROA's research efforts intend to make a significant contribution to both academic and societal discussions on the effects of knowledge and skills acquired in education and in other learning situations on occupational careers, performance within organisations and the development of the economy.

  • Thomas Dohmen forthcoming in the Economic Journal
    A paper by ROA director Thomas Dohmen and Armin Falk (University of Bonn) You Get What You Pay For: Incentives and Selection in the Education System, has been accepted for publication by the Economic Journal.

  • Pierson medal 2009 awarded to Thomas Dohmen
    The ‘Pierson’ medal is an initiative of the Mr. N.G. Pierson Fund Foundation and is awarded biennially to a young, promising researcher in the field of (financial) economics, who is on the verge of an international break through. The Pierson prize 2009 is awarded to Prof. Thomas Dohmen for his productive and excellent research in the field of applied micro-economics and in particular the labour market, personnel and organizational economics, behavioral economics and psychology of incentives.

  • Prof. Dr. J.M.G. Leune Penning awarded to Jaap Dronkers
    Prof. Jaap Dronkers has been professor at Maastricht University since last December 1st 2009. Until that time he was professor at the European University Institute in Florence. Here he focused on the analysis of the quality and comparability of national education systems for years. For his pioneering work in this area he was awarded the Prof. Dr. J.M.G. Leune Penning at the expert meeting "Focus on Facts" on December 9th 2009.

    The HEGESCO project examines to what extent HE graduates are able to meet the demands of today’s knowledge economy.
